Hi All.
I was going to create a new blog for the Essentials Intel Teach course project. Then on second thought, this blog IS part of the project, so why not just continue where we (Su & me) left off.
So, to start off with, welcome to the blog. Here we can share information on health issues in general and in particular those affecting teenagers.
I was a teenager (when huh?) shhh.. let's keep that a secret.. and I knew how concerned we were about how we looked.. especially we girls. I wanted the hour glass figure like the late Saloma ( you all know her, right? -Biduanita Negara, a national treasure)
Now, with TV programmes like Biggest Looser and America's Top Supermodel, Magazines like Vogue, FHM, Cosmopiltan, Jelita, Cleo and hundreds more, the image of thin being beautiful is influencing the world-view point of beauty.
Used to be, beauty images of Sita, a voluptous full-figure Hindu Goddess, was the trend and then it was OK to be on the heavy side. But now pencil-thin, anorexic figures of caucasian models are being fed into the faces of teenages. So powerful is the image, that we Asians, get drawn into the thought that thin is beautiful. Is it? What is beauty anyway? It's only skin deep right?
